Scott is a true Charlotte native, also known as a unicorn since no one in this city of transplants believes they exist. Unlike the mythical horned beasts with magical powers, Scott is real and has called Charlotte home his whole life other than a brief 4-year stint at Appalachian State University where he received a degree in criminal justice with a minor in political science. Over five decades, he’s watched his sleepy little town grow into the metropolis that it is today, and he’s shared this perspective, channeling his passion for history, writing for various local publications about Charlotte's neighborhoods, development in the city, and other local topics. As a broker and real estate professional since 1992, he’s also been quoted or part of related news stories on local broadcasting as well.

Joey, like a baby kangaroo, hopped from Atlanta to Charlotte in 2002 in search of new territory to explore his creative ambitions. Just two years later, he graduated from the Aveda Institute and joined a small boutique salon, quickly becoming the go-to stylist for Charlotte’s local on-air talent. A year later, he ventured out on his own and opened J.Studio hair salon. Not long after, he began splitting his time as Fashion Editor for Uptown Magazine and stepping in from time to time as the same for Elevate & SEEN Magazines. Not only is Joey accomplished as a stylist, he’s also a designer, painter, carpenter, and chef, blending these creative outlets as a true Renaissance man.

Joey and Scott met in April, 2003, and have been together ever since. They not only came together as best friends and romantic partners, but as creative partners as well, designing and opening multiple businesses together and remodeling multiple homes and commercial properties. Both are passionate about design, food, travel, gardening and developed, opened and sold two popular Charlotte social and hangout spots, the NoDa Company Store and the Canteen at Camp North End.

Rounding out the family, we have Charlotte Dorothy Peppercorn (Lottie Dottie). While technically a dog, she exhibits quite a few feline characteristics: sauntering between your legs, rubbing against you as she passes by, and long afternoons in the front window watching the world go by (and squirrels battling for acorns). When she’s not napping you can find her hiking, running, exploring new scents, or digging in the sand.
